The DVD drive not showing in Windows is a problem Windows users experience now and then. When this happens, most Windows users immediately start freaking. Understandably, because replacing the drive costs money. Money, you do not have. Fortunately; mostly the DVD drive not showing in Windows is not a hardware problem, it is a software problem. The clean install proves that the hardware works fine with Windows 10, and that Windows 10 properly detects and installs compatible drivers for the hardware. It also proves that the upgrade process, does not like to port over the DVD drive.
For a major number of HP, Lenovo and Dell laptops/notebook users, upon upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or 8, they found that either the DVD Driver is not detected at all by Windows 10 or if it’s visible in device manager, then it’s not working. You might find a exclamation mark too in device manager for your DVD Drive in device manager.
